18 Random Facts You May Not Know About Me
I wanted to write this post because 1) there are a lot of you new to my page and blog (Hi! And thank you for following along!) 2) even though it may seem like I share every aspect of my life on social media, what you see on my Instagram and blog are very select and curated aspects of my life. I love reading posts like this from my favorite bloggers because I feel like it helps me get to know them more, as well as have more of an insight into their lives. There is so much that I do not share on IG and the blog, so I hope these next 18 facts help give you a glimpse into my life outside of social media!
P.S. I chose 18 because it’s 2018! (Yeah I know, I make reasons for everything)
18 Facts About Me:
I’ve lived in 7 different places in my life. (Saipan, CNMI - Tinian, CNMI - Cebu City, Philippines - Zamboanga City, Philippines - Las Vegas, NV - Madrid, Spain - New York City, NY). So when I say “home is a state of mind” it’s because I’ve had to learn how to make a bunch of different places “home”.
I was a Girl Scout all my life until I graduated high school. I used to sell Girl Scout cookies back when it only cost $3.
I can speak 5 languages. Learning my 6th and 7th one (French and Arabic).
I absolutely hate ketchup. But I love sauces.
I started posting outfits on Instagram as a way to keep track of the outfits I wore after I read an article about a girl who did not repeat the same outfit once for a whole year using only 26 articles of clothing. I sadly can’t find the article anymore.
I am the biggest bookworm (and have been trying to get back into the habit of reading everyday). When I was a kid, I had to be forced to play with the neighborhood kids because I’d rather read my books than play outside.
For being a fashion blogger, I’m not the biggest fan of high fashion. Some pieces are absolutely gorgeous, but some I would never be caught dead wearing.
I love trivia. Or just knowing random facts that I’ll probably never need to know. I look up random tidbits of information everyday.
I’ve traveled to 21 countries and 4 continents. It’s my goal to visit 22 countries before 22 and all 7 continents before I turn 30.
I am seriously the BIGGEST Britney Spears fan in the world. I’ve been her #1 fan since I could sing Baby One More Time.
My current job is teaching as an ELL (English Language Learner) guest teacher at local high schools, but I did not study education (nor do I have any intention of becoming a teacher).
I cannot only do one thing at a time. It makes me antsy. (It is also why I cannot watch movies in the movie theaters). I have to constantly be doing multiple things at once for me to not go crazy.
Not the biggest fan of going to the gym, but I LOVE hiking. It’s on my bucket list to hike Machu Picchu someday.
When I was 2 years old, I randomly started speaking a language that no one taught me how to speak (Chavacano--a creole language of a Southern Philippine city called Zamboanga) and that I had never spoken before. When my mom asked me who taught me how to speak the language, I told her I learned it by listening to the people around me talk.
I am half Chamorro and half Filipino/Chinese. Although, when I travel, 90% of the people I come across think I am from South America. ¿Eres de Sudamerica? <-- My most commonly asked question while traveling.
I rarely watch TV, go to the movies or keep up with popular culture. All my free time goes to IG, the blog, traveling or studying and I get all my news from news apps + twitter.
I absolutely LOVE and NEED spicy food in my life. As a baby, my dad used to feed me that super hot and spicy korean ramen noodles (that is honestly too hot for me now) because it was one of the foods I wanted all the time.
I kid you not, I literally put hot pepper, cayenne pepper, sriracha (the like) on EVERYTHING!
I have always been a morning person. Nowadays, I have to wake up at 5 am for work, but just in general, I love waking up early. That being said, I can never stay up late (unless I am wired on coffee).
